Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command reports directly to the Lead Captain, adhering to all company operating policies and procedures. The Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of assigned flight operations, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. As the final authority for the safe conduct of the flight, they exercise complete control over all assigned flight operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Hold and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight experience.
- Minimum 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of turbojet flight experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours of night flight experience.
- Minimum 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight experience.
- At least 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overnight and weekend shifts.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide, without restrictions.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and/or canceling flights based on weather conditions or other factors.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during all flight operations.
- Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans, as required by en route conditions, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Refer to the approved MEL and determine, as directed by the DOM or their designee, if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs to be repaired, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Confirm the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File, or cause a flight plan to be filed, with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command, preparing them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- While the Pilot in Command may delegate these duties, they remain ultimately responsible for their successful execution.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
