Lead Captain - Global Express XRS (Burbank, CA)
Jet Aviation, a leading provider of aviation services since 1967, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain to join its team in Burbank, California. As a vital member of our Flight Services department, the Lead Captain will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Global Express XRS aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Exercise pilot in command authority over all assigned flights, serving as the final authority for flight safety.
- Safe operation of the aircraft, including determining departure times and routes, and making flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Maintain strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during all flights.
- Coordinate flight schedules and training with flight crew and customer service representatives, utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Ensure flight and duty records, and other required documentation, are submitted and reviewed by assigned crew members.
- Maintain the currency of aircraft manuals, Jeppesen charts/EFBs, and delegate responsibilities as necessary.
- Coordinate crew member training and check rides in conjunction with the Manager of Training, based on the annual training calendar.
- Manage crew member time off and training events while maintaining maximum aircraft coverage.
- Verify that flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Mentor and coach crew members to foster their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Participate in Lead Captain meetings.
- Provide support to the Account Director as required.
- Assist in the hiring of flight crew.
- Implement necessary changes based on en route conditions to ensure flight continuation within company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Ensure accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding with the second in command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Determine, based on the approved MEL and guidance from the Director of Maintenance, whether inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair.
- Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as needed or instructed by company management.
- Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from FAA flight service stations or authorized agencies.
- File flight plans with the FAA or ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the duties of the TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct passenger safety briefings or delegate the task to the second in command.
- Train the second in command to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in emergencies or when the second in command upgrades to pilot in command in that aircraft.
- Submit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information regarding safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Qualifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing experience.
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land experience.
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command experience.
- 1,500 hours Turbojet experience.
- 1,500 hours Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night experience.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument experience.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.

- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
- Work in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas.
- Moderate noise level with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures.
- Frequent exposure to vibration.
- Occasional exposure to fuel fumes.
- Willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
