Job Overview
This position is based in Opa-locka, Florida, and requires an on-site presence. Reporting directly to the Lead Captain, this role plays a crucial part in the successful operation of the company's flight services.
Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command is responsible for:
- Safely operating the AW-139 aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and canceling flights as needed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during all flights.
- Maintaining a safe and prudent flight in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Accurately completing all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensuring a thorough understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and reporting them promptly to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Ensuring that the flight crew reports for duty in appropriate attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtaining current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from authorized agencies.
- Filing or ensuring the filing of flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Performing the duties of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Conducting passenger safety briefings or assigning that duty to the Second in Command.
- Training and mentoring the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completing and submitting the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Completing and submitting the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Representing Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing Time.
- 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land Time.
- 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command Time.
- 1,500 hours of Turbojet Time.
- 1,500 hours of Turbine Time.
- 100 hours of Night Time.
- 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument Time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.

This position requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks:

Work Environment
The work environment for this position includes:
- A combination of heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas.
- Moderate noise levels with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures.
- Frequent exposure to vibration.
- Occasional exposure to fuel fumes.
- The ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Loud noise levels.
- Extreme hot and cold temperatures in the Hangar environment during certain seasons of the year.
