Plane Captain
Amentum is seeking a professional Plane Captain to join our aviation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for aircraft handling, servicing, and performing daily and turnaround inspections. This role provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper staff to ensure operational excellence and safety compliance.
Essential Responsibilities

Perform all duties and responsibilities associated with the Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.

Conduct daily and turnaround inspections in accordance with applicable procedures.

Initiate and complete all required maintenance documentation.

Execute aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as required by established procedures.

Manage aircraft launch and recovery operations, including serving as an aircraft taxi director.

Perform aircraft towing duties and act as an aircraft brake rider when necessary.

Execute aircraft tie-down and covering procedures.

Provide technical guidance and instruction to team members.

Utilize two-way communication equipment effectively.

Ensure strict compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.

Maintain adherence to all general and industrial safety regulations applicable to the facility and job assignment.

Protect and maintain the security and integrity of government and company-owned equipment.

Maintain a clean work environment and provide professional customer service.

Operate portable firefighting equipment and perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.

Valid Driver’s License.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Ability to obtain and maintain all required government/company licenses, qualifications, and certifications.

For prior military personnel: Member 4 DD214 with Honorable discharge status.

Proficiency in the English language with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Comprehensive knowledge of safety and maintenance manuals, flight line operations, aircraft handling, marshaling, and common hand tools.

Physical ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, and reach, with the capacity to push or pull up to 70 pounds.

Visual acuity including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment; normal hearing range.

Must complete a formal training program and receive written certification as a Plane Captain, with semi-annual re-qualification.

Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH60 aircraft.

Certifications in Hazardous Waste Communications, FOD and TCP Awareness, ISO 9001-2000 Awareness, and Operational Risk Management (ORM).

Licensing for support equipment operation, including tow tractors, nitrogen servicing carts, engine wash carts, and engine start units.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Rate:
$50.66 (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
