Scope of Operations

The First Officer will contribute to extensive operations that include:

  • Approximately 450 daily flights operated.
  • Service to approximately 67 destinations across Canada and the United States.
  • Carriage of 8 million passengers annually.
  • Four (4) established crew base locations: Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Note: Pilot recruitment feeds into a common ground school. Bases are assigned on the second day of ground school. Candidates are required to apply to only one First Officer position, regardless of location, to initiate the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications

Prospective First Officers must satisfy the following essential minimum criteria:

  • Valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot License.
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating, which must be current and meet instrument recency requirements.
  • Valid Transport Canada Multi-Engine Rating.
  • Valid Transport Canada Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 500 hours total flying time.
  • Successful completion of the IATRA written exam within the past two years, or possession of completed ATPL written exams.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet Transport Canada English proficiency standards.
  • Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency without restrictions.
  • Must hold a current passport at the time of hire.
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
  • Must have completed a High School diploma.

Permanent Residents must be able to obtain and maintain necessary crew visa documentation required for aircraft operation within the USA. Candidates are requested to ensure their resume clearly details a complete breakdown of all flying hours (including total time, multi-engine time, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

Preference will be extended to applicants possessing qualifications beyond the basic requirements, demonstrating enhanced preparation for the role:

  • Possession of a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Experience in two-crew multi-engine turbine operations.
  • Total flying time significantly exceeding the 500-hour minimum requirement.
  • Graduation from an accredited Aviation College degree or diploma program.
  • Commercial or military flight experience.
  • Experience utilizing Flight Management Systems (FMS) and/or glass cockpit technology.
  • An internal Jazz referral.

Compensation Structure

  • Competitive starting salary at $67.57 per credit hour.
  • Daily expense allowance, averaging $800 to $1000 (tax-free) per month.
