Role Summary:
As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, Flight Attendants are responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere onboard. This role demands in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties, safety procedures, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and approachable demeanor with both passengers and colleagues. This is a union represented position.
Key Duties:
- Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations.
- Verify the functionality of all safety equipment on the aircraft.
- Greet passengers, assist with seating assignments, and manage carry-on baggage stowage and security procedures.
- Clearly explain and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures on the aircraft.
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.
- Effectively market onboard products, including meals and inflight entertainment, and process sales using a mobile device.
- Professionally resolve passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Provide information and answer questions regarding flight operations and destinations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Details:
- Four weeks of paid training are required, taking place in Portland, OR.
- A specific tattoo policy applies, limiting the size and placement of visible tattoos.
Job-Specific Experience, Education, & Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of two years of customer or community service experience.
- Unwavering dedication to safety.
- Ability to meet specific aircraft dimensions (example: jump seat, harness without modification, cabin aisle and emergency exits).
- Ability to adhere to company grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of a Flight Attendant.
- Willingness to relocate to any of the flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and perform effectively under stress.
- Ability to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Possession of a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States, along with any necessary travel documentation for employees with non-U.S. passports. Ability to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:
Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.

- First-year step rate: $20.55 (per contract).
