The Opportunity
The Contract & Charter division of Hillsboro Aviation provides essential services to prominent organizations such as the United States Forest Service (USFS), the Department of Interior (DOI), FEMA, major national utility companies, and leading high-tech firms, as well as smaller enterprises and individuals. Their diverse missions encompass search and rescue, short-haul operations including human external cargo transport, natural disaster relief, construction support, aerial firefighting, natural resource surveys, film/photo/news, and heli-skiing. The fleet includes the Airbus H145D3, Bell 205 A-1++, Bell 407, Bell 407HP, and Airbus AS350B3e.
As a B205A1++ Fire Fighting and Utility Pilot, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Contract & Charter R/W team to organize and manage the daily requirements of assigned contracts. They will report directly to the Chief Pilot and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.
Key Responsibilities

Execute fire fighting missions under either an EU contract or a CWN
contract, beginning May/June 2025 and extending through the end of the
fire season.
- For CWN contracts, a guaranteed number of workdays, equivalent to an EU contract, will be agreed upon and paid as a salary throughout the season.

Adhere to a 12/12 or 12/2 schedule for fire contracts.
- On a 12/2 schedule, occasional longer breaks for travel may be accommodated based on operational needs and relief pilot availability.
- All travel and accommodation expenses, including per diem, will be covered.
- Perform other utility operations as required to meet project needs and associated schedules.
- Present the aircraft and operations in a professional manner to clients, specifically the USFS.
- Apply sound judgment and excellent airmanship to ensure the safe operation of the aircraft.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contractual obligations, and daily operations reporting protocols.

The ideal candidate will be engaging, energetic, and self-motivated; able to work independently under minimal supervision while maintaining a strong work ethic and a positive outlook; possess an exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; and be enthusiastic about representing Hillsboro Aviation to key clients, including foreign governments, community leaders, and business partners.
Required Qualifications/Licenses
- Commercial (COM) or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating.
- Current FAA Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Valid Passport and FCC radio license (for operations crossing into Canada or relocations to Alaska).
- Eligible to legally work in the United States.
Required Skills/Experience
- Total Helicopter Flight Time: 3,500 hours
- Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Helicopter Time in Last 12 Months: 100 hours
- Bell Medium Helicopter PIC Time: 50 hours
- Bell Medium Helicopter PIC Time in Last 12 Months: 10 hours
- Mountainous Terrain Helicopter PIC Time: 300 hours
- Bell Medium Helicopter PIC Time in Mountainous Terrain: 100 hours
- Vertical Reference Total Time: 300 hours
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Currently or previously Interagency carded in Bell Medium helicopters (preferably B205).
- Vertical reference experience, with precision placement, with 25 hours PIC in the last 12 months.
- Additional experience in B407, AS350, or H145 helicopters.
- Rotorcraft Instrument Rating.
- Clean driving record.
- B205 Factory Training.
