Flight Operations Intern Program (FOIP)
United Airlines invites enrolled students to participate in the 16-week Flight Operations Intern Program (FOIP). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to global airline operations, combining academic interests with practical experience within a commercial air carrier environment. Participants will work under the guidance of a designated mentor responsible for task assignment, project management, and daily professional direction.
Key Responsibilities

Support Flight Operations business processes and staff within Chief Pilot Offices, the Flight Training Center, and the Corporate Support Center.

Engage in special projects and professional development activities as assigned.

Participate in potential business travel to other cities within the United Airlines network.

Duration:
August 31, 2026 – December 18, 2026.

Locations:
Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Newark, NJ; San Francisco, CA; Washington, DC; and Orlando, FL.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Current FAA Commercial rating.

Valid FAA Medical certificate (First, Second, or Third class).

Valid, unexpired passport for international travel.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Ability to relocate and secure housing in the assigned internship location.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Successful completion of a formal interview process.

Commitment to reliable and punctual attendance.

Compensation and Benefits
The starting base rate is $17.50/hour, with location-specific adjustments for the following stations:

SFO: $21.54/hour

LAX: $22.50/hour

LGA: $21.25/hour

JFK: $21.25/hour

EWR: $21.25/hour

DEN: $19.29/hour
