Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command (PIC) holds primary responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of assigned aircraft. This critical role ensures strict compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and standard operational procedures. The PIC manages all aspects of flight preparation and execution, including effective crew coordination, comprehensive risk management, and exceptional passenger service. The position demands exceptional leadership qualities, profound technical expertise, and an unwavering focus on safety and customer service. As the final authority, the PIC makes all decisions regarding the aircraft and its operation. This specific account involves a Pilatus aircraft, operating as a 2-pilot flight department based in Oklahoma City, OK, with an estimated annual flight time of approximately 250 hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Flight Operations: Serves as the Pilot in Command, exercising final authority and responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft on all assigned flights. Ensures absolute compliance with all FAA regulations, company flight operations manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Pre-flight Planning: Conducts comprehensive pre-flight planning, encompassing detailed weather analysis, accurate performance calculations, routing, fuel planning, and thorough aircraft airworthiness checks. Ensures all flight preparations meet company and regulatory standards.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM): Maintains a high standard of crew coordination and clear communication throughout all phases of flight. Leads the flight crew in performing duties professionally, efficiently, and cooperatively, cultivating a strong culture of teamwork and safety.
- Passenger Service: Provides the highest level of customer service, ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all passengers. Acts as the primary point of contact for clients during the flight, promptly addressing any concerns or special requests.
- Safety Management: Actively participates in the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), proactively promoting a strong safety culture. Identifies and mitigates risks utilizing risk analysis tools and contributes to safety audits and corrective action processes.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentors and guides First Officers and other flight crew members. Ensures all crew members fully understand their roles and responsibilities, providing clear direction and constructive feedback to foster professional growth.
- Post-flight Duties: Completes all required post-flight documentation accurately, including trip reports, logbook entries, and any necessary maintenance or operational notes. Reports any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly to the maintenance team.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all flight operations strictly adhere to FAA regulations, including maintaining current required training, medical certifications, and company policy compliance. Keeps all flight crew records meticulously up to date.
Qualifications:
- Flight Experience:
- Minimum 2500 total flight hours required.
- Minimum 1500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) required.
- Certifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating required.
- Current First-Class Medical Certificate required.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit preferred.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of FAA regulations, flight planning procedures, and safety management systems.
- Possesses excellent communication and leadership skills, coupled with the ability to make sound, timely decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in the use of modern flight planning and aviation management software.
- Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience specifically in Part 135 operations is highly desirable.
