Flight Instructor

FlightSafety International, the world's premier professional aviation training company, seeks a qualified Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. As a Flight Instructor, the individual will operate in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare training materials that effectively support training delivery and meet client needs, adhering to the applicable curriculum.
  • Evaluate and measure trainee progress, recommending qualification or additional training as needed.
  • Maintain accurate training records specific to each client, contributing to their success in achieving their objectives.
  • Identify client training issues and proactively seek assistance prior to execution.
  • Maintain instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Minimum Experience:

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • If lacking an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements outlined in: 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is essential.
  • FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training experience is preferred.
  • A preferred minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and teach.
  • Possession of first-level facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated first-level customer service skills.
  • Receptiveness to coaching and feedback to support professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and the ability to taste or smell.

The individual must possess the physical range of motion necessary to: reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet; reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor’s chair; enter and exit from the simulator device via the provided ramp; move between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom; and exit from a malfunctioning simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions, and may be occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
