Position Overview: Simulator Second in Command

The Simulator Second in Command (SIC) is responsible for maintaining currency in assigned programs to act as a flight partner for internal and external customers during Initial, Recurrent, or generic training courses. The SIC provides essential support within multi-crew aircraft training environments, ensuring professional and high-standard operational support throughout the training curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a competent Second-in-Command for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who lack a flying partner, excluding the performance of instructional duties.
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with assigned programs and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Keep all required certificates, ratings, and designations current to perform SIC duties effectively.
  • Execute SIC duties across various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. with two to three years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
  • Experience: Minimum of 450 flight hours.

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) with excellent cockpit communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with diverse clientele.
  • Resilience and adaptability to changing schedules and high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in a second language may be required at specific Learning Centers to address local needs.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

The role requires manual dexterity to operate controls, physical range of motion to manipulate rudder/anti-torque controls, and the ability to navigate simulator devices, including during emergency egress. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The individual must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment involves potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and varying weather conditions, with a moderate noise level.
