Aviation Pilot / Flight Program Operations
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently utilizing direct hiring authority for the 2181 series to staff its Flight Program Operations team. This public notice serves as a resume repository; positions may or may not be filled from this announcement.
Mission Overview
The FAA Flight Program Operations team supports a unique government organization with a diverse mission set critical to the safety and integrity of the national airspace system. Pilots perform routine inspections of ground-based navigational aids, commission new equipment, conduct research and development, flight test cutting-edge avionics, and provide critical event response for government agencies.

Must successfully complete a security investigation.

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Selected candidates may be required to file a financial disclosure statement.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Candidates will be evaluated based on the application package and FAA Form 3330-47-3 (ASIP). All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements by the closing date:

Certificates:
Valid Commercial Pilot Certificate with airplane, multi-engine land, and instrument ratings, OR an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating. (Note: Candidates without an ATP must complete the written exam within 60 days of appointment).

Medical:
Valid first or second-class medical certificate required. (Note: A first-class medical certificate must be obtained prior to appointment).

Total Flight Time:
1500 hours.

Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time:
250 hours.

Night Flying Time:
75 hours.

Flying Time (Last 12 Months):
100 hours.

Multi-engine Airplane Time:
500 hours.

Instrument Time:
75 hours (minimum 10 hours in actual instrument weather).
Note: To qualify at the FV-J (FG-14) level, applicants must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) and an Airspace Inspection Pilot (ASIP) Credential.
Application Instructions
Applicants must provide FAA Form 3330-47-3 to verify flight hours. While formal Knowledge, Skills, and Ability (KSA) narratives are not required, applicants must include specific examples within their work history that demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements for each KSA. Positions may be filled at the FV-I or FV-J levels.

This position is covered by the FAA Core Compensation plan and is not a bargaining unit position.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses may be paid if the candidate is eligible.
