Aviation Professional - Captain
Etihad Airways seeks experienced aviation professionals to join our team as Captains. This critical role demands a steadfast commitment to safety, a deep understanding of Airbus wide-body aircraft, and a proven track record of leadership and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
As a Captain, you will be entrusted with the highest level of responsibility, ensuring the safety and security of all crew, passengers, and cargo onboard. Your duties will encompass:
Leadership and Decision Making:
- Assume full responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft from pre-flight preparation to engine shutdown post-flight.
- Exercise decisive authority, issuing commands as necessary to ensure the safety of the aircraft, its occupants, and cargo.
- Maintain the authority to disembark any individual or cargo that poses a potential safety hazard.
- In emergency situations, confidently deviate from standard procedures when necessary, prioritizing the safety of all onboard.
Operational Expertise:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and application of all regulations, documentation, and briefing materials pertinent to each flight, including primary and alternate airfields.
- Possess thorough familiarity with both oxygen escape and terrain escape routes.
- Ensure meticulous adherence to all operational checklists by all crew members throughout every phase of flight, including normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
- Maintain a current understanding and proficiently implement manufacturer-provided procedures and checklists approved by Etihad Airways.
- Operate the aircraft strictly within the parameters outlined in all Operational Manuals.
- Enforce compliance with lawful commands issued to ensure the safety and security of the aircraft and all onboard.
- Champion operational efficiency, adhering to company fuel policy and prioritizing on-time performance.
- Cultivate customer awareness and ensure a positive flight experience.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this esteemed position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Flight Experience:
- A minimum of 7,000 hours total flying time.
- At least 2,500 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) experience on multi-crew, glass cockpit (FMS coupled to APFDS) jet aircraft.
- A minimum of 2,000 PIC hours on Airbus wide-body fly-by-wire (FBW) aircraft.
- A valid type rating on any Airbus wide-body FBW aircraft for a minimum of two months at the commencement of employment.
- Recent experience flying any Airbus FBW aircraft within the preceding 12 months.
- For hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief, 75% of total hours will be considered towards minimum requirements.
Certifications and Licences:
- Unrestricted and current ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Unrestricted and current Class 1 medical certificate.
Other Requirements:
- Must be under 59 years of age upon joining Etihad Airways.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, at Level 4 or above.
- Holding a current TRE/TRI certification is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits:
Etihad Airways offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications, including:
- Competitive Salary: Starting salary of AED 35,200 per month.
- Flight Duty Allowance: Based on years of service:
- 1-6 years: AED 50 per block hour.
- 7-10 years: AED 80 per block hour.
- Generous Layover Allowances: Meal allowances provided based on geographical location.
- Housing Benefits: Up to AED 170,000 per year or company-provided accommodation, subject to availability.
