Job Description
This role requires a highly skilled and experienced pilot to command Airbus wide-body aircraft, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of flights. The Captain is responsible for the overall safety and security of the aircraft, passengers, and crew, adhering to all applicable regulations, documentation, and operational procedures. Key responsibilities include:
- Safety and Security: Maintaining the safety and security of all crew members, passengers, and cargo onboard throughout the flight, from initial taxiing to final touchdown and engine shutdown.
- Flight Planning and Execution: Familiarizing oneself with all relevant regulations, documentation, and briefing materials for the planned flight route, destination, and alternate airfields. Understanding both oxygen escape routes and terrain escape routes.
- Command Authority: Possessing the authority to issue any commands deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the aircraft, passengers, and cargo.
- Safety Precautions: Authorizing the disembarkation of any individual or cargo deemed a potential hazard to the safety of the aircraft or its occupants.
- Operational Compliance: Enforcing strict adherence to all operational checklists by the crew during every phase of flight operations, including abnormal and emergency situations.
- Procedure Implementation: Ensuring proper implementation and application of manufacturer-provided procedures and checklists approved by Etihad Airways.
- Emergency Response: Taking decisive action in emergency situations requiring immediate response, potentially deviating from standard rules and procedures to prioritize safety.
- Operational Efficiency: Operating the aircraft within the scope of all Operational Manuals and adhering to company fuel policy.
- Passenger Management: Taking reasonable measures to ensure all passengers onboard comply with lawful commands given for the safety of the aircraft, passengers, and cargo.
- On-Time Performance: Striving for on-time performance.
- Customer Awareness: Fostering a customer-centric approach.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a comprehensive background in aviation with significant experience piloting Airbus wide-body aircraft. Specific requirements include:
- Flight Experience: A minimum of 7000 total flying hours.
- PIC Experience: At least 2500 PIC hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit jet aircraft.
- Airbus Experience: A minimum of 2000 PIC hours on any Airbus wide-body FBW aircraft.
- Type Rating: A valid type rating on any Airbus FBW aircraft for a minimum of 2 months at the time of joining.
- Licenses: An unrestricted and current ICAO ATPL.
- Recent Experience: Flight experience on any Airbus FBW within the past 12 months.
- Medical Certification: An unrestricted and current Class 1 medical.
- Age Limit: Must not have reached the age of 59 years old by the date of joining.
- Additional Assets: Current TRE/TRI is an advantage.
- Language Proficiency: English language fluency (written and verbal) at Level 4 or higher.
- Inflight Relief: 75% of total hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief will be counted towards the required minimums.
- Glass Cockpit: Aircraft with an FMS coupled to APFDS.
Salary and Benefits

- Salary: A starting salary of AED 35,200 per month for Captains.
- Flight Duty Allowance:
- 1-6 years of service: AED 50 per block hour
- 7-10 years of service: AED 80 per block hour
- Meal Allowance: During layovers, meal allowances are provided at varying rates depending on location.
- Housing: A housing allowance of up to AED 170,000 per year or company-provided housing depending on availability.
- Education Allowance: An education allowance of AED 40,000 for primary and AED 55,000 for secondary education for up to 3 children.
