The Role

The Direct Entry Captain assumes the most senior position in command of the aircraft. This pivotal role requires Captains to lead flight operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort aboard Emirates' advanced Airbus aircraft.

Minimum Salary

The minimum starting salary for a Direct Entry Captain is AED 40,100 per month, exclusive of flight pay. This is equivalent to approximately USD 10,926 (exchange rate dependent).

Role Requirements

Prospective candidates must fulfil the following minimum requirements:

  • Total flying time of at least 7,000 hours, excluding time logged on P3, rotary-wing, and single/multi-engine piston aircraft.
  • Hold a valid ICAO Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and an unrestricted Class 1 Medical Certificate from the issuing authority.
  • Demonstrate ICAO English Language Proficiency at Level 5 or higher.
  • Minimum of 150 hours flying time in the past 12 months on the aircraft type for which the application is made, or a qualifying Airbus FBW Wide Body type as specified below.

Specific Fleet Requirements:

  • For A380 Direct Entry Captain: Must currently be operating as an Airbus FBW Wide Body Captain with a minimum of 3,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on Airbus FBW Wide Body aircraft.
  • For A350 Direct Entry Captain: Must possess a minimum of 3,000 hours command time on a multi-crew, multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 50 tonnes. A minimum of 1,500 hours of this command time must be as a Captain on an Airbus FBW Wide Body aircraft.
