Key Responsibilities
The First Officer performs duties essential to the safe and efficient conduct of flight operations, working closely with the Captain. Responsibilities include:
- Operating the aircraft in accordance with the current flight plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Captain's directives.
- Notifying the Captain of any changes to the flight plan, ATC instructions, or geographical position when not at the controls.
- Assisting the Captain with administrative tasks related to the flight as requested.
- Ensuring the safe navigation of the aircraft through continuous and independent checks of geographical position, terrain, and weather clearance.
- Maintaining a high standard of personal discipline, conduct, and appearance, representing Etihad Airways professionally at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be considered for a First Officer position on the A320 fleet, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
- A minimum of 2500 hours of total flying time.
- A minimum of 1500 hours accumulated on multi-crew, glass cockpit (1), or high-performance military jet aircraft.
- A minimum of 500 hours specifically on the Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
- Experience flying any Airbus Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft within the last 12 months.
- Possession of a valid A320 Type Rating with a minimum of 2 months validity remaining at the time of joining.
- Hold a current and unrestricted ICAO ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence). Frozen ATPLs are not accepted unless held by a UAE citizen.
- Be currently flying on the A320 aircraft type.
- Possess an unrestricted, current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
- Candidates must be aged 50 years or younger at the time of application.
- Demonstrate English Language Fluency (written and verbal) at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
- For flight hours accumulated with inflight relief, 75% of the total hours will be counted towards the required minimums.
(1) Glass Cockpit: defined as an aircraft equipped with a Flight Management System (FMS) coupled to an Automatic Pilot Flight Director System (APFDS).
