A320 Type-Rated Captain (Fixed-Term Contract)
Fly Jinnah, Pakistan's newest airline and a group company, is seeking skilled and experienced A320 Type-Rated Captains to join its team on a fixed-term contract basis. This opportunity is exclusively available to eligible foreign nationals.
Contract Specification:
- **Type:** Fixed-term contract.
- **Duration:** 15 months fixed period, renewable by mutual agreement for a further period.
- **Structure:** Approximately 3 months of initial training followed by 12 months of flying duties.
Role Overview:
The A320 Captain is responsible for conducting assigned flights in accordance with the detailed provisions of the Airline Operational Manual and in full compliance with relevant civil aviation authority regulations. The Captain must ensure ultimate safety, security, and efficiency are achieved throughout all operated flights, providing support and guidance to the flight and cabin crew. The role involves effectively handling emergencies and ad-hoc scenarios, taking control over the flight to ensure successful performance and maintain a positive corporate image. The Captain is required to consult with the Chief Pilot, Maintenance Control Centre, Operations Control Centre, and Head of Flight Operations on any non-routine or critical actions prior to execution, ensuring all duties are performed through proper channels and in compliance with adopted policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating assigned aircraft from one destination to another in accordance with given schedules and approved flight plans, serving as the ultimate responsible person for the aircraft during assigned flights.
- Ensuring assigned flights are conducted in strict accordance with the detailed provisions of the Airline’s Operations Manual and regulations.
- Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the necessary procedures to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the aircraft at all times.
- Ensuring timely attendance, proper grooming, fitness, and legality of self and the Flight Crew for assigned flights.
- Conducting comprehensive pre-flight briefings to ensure crew members are fully informed of flight details and continuously ensuring proper briefing is performed prior to each action as per adopted procedures.
- Liaising effectively with co-pilots (First Officer and Second Officer) and the Dispatch Team prior to each flight, ensuring flight and cabin crew members are well prepared and provided with required information, including aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather, fuel, weight, and distribution of roles.
- Operating the aircraft to make the most efficient and effective use of fuel during the flight, within the safety constraints detailed in the relevant sections of the Airline’s Operations Manual.
- Ensuring required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks are carried out by assigned Flight/Cabin crew members before, during, and after each flight.
- Taking necessary action and directing the crew on how to react in case of safety or security irregularities, deciding on escalations if needed.
Qualifications:
- Holds an appropriate Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- Must pass the technical/psychometric assessment for Pilots as per Airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- Must pass the Medical Fitness check-up for Pilots as per Airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; a formal qualification is an advantage.
- Basic Airport, security procedures, and regulations training is an advantage.
- Crew Resources Management Training is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of IATA principles and standards relating to security is an advantage.
Work Experience:
- Must have completed a minimum of 4000 hours of total flying an aircraft.
- A minimum of 800 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on Airbus A320 aircraft is required.
- Possesses acceptable industry knowledge in aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Exposure to Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Security, and Audit procedures and practices related to and affecting Flight Operations.
- Capable of implementing policies, procedures, and manuals as per approved standards and regulations.
- Demonstrates a cost-oriented approach, possesses effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Exhibits high accuracy and attention to both results and details.
Compensation and Benefits:
Monthly Salary During Initial Training (until Final Line Check):
- AED 20,199 (Equivalent to US$5,500) net per month (pro-rated for the part of the month) plus Per Diem.
Monthly Salary After Training (For up to 60 Block Hours in a month):
- AED 27,544 (Equivalent to US$7,500) net per month plus Per Diem.
Flying Pay Above 60 Block Hours in a month:
- Every block hour above 60 Block hours in a month will be paid at AED 404 (Equivalent to US$110).
Per Diem:
- AED 184 (Equivalent of US$50) per day (On an average of US$1,500 per month), paid towards food and other miscellaneous expenses.
Accommodation:
Suitable hotel accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis provided at the base of operation and layover stations for the full duration of the contract, including personal laundry at the Hotel (4 pieces of clothes per day).
Transportation:
- Suitable ground transportation provided from Accommodation to and from Airports/Office for all rostered flight duties.
Travel:
- The company shall arrange and pay for economy class tickets at the commencement and end of the contract along with up to 50 kg of baggage allowance.
- Unlimited standby tickets on Air Arabia group network during the contract period.
- After completion of 6 months, eligibility for MYID travel benefits.
Uniforms / Laundry:
- Uniforms and laundry service provided for the duration of the contract.
Roster & Annual Leave:
- Entitled to 30 calendar days of Annual Leave Vacation (ALV) per completed year of service (accruing at 2.5 days per month).
- Paid vacation is granted following the successful completion of initial training and Line Flying release, upon the start of regular rostered flying duties.
- Paid vacation days will be combined with rostered OFF days each month, guaranteeing a minimum of seven consecutive free-of-duty days (Paid Vacation + OFF days) per month.
