The Opportunity

Etihad Airways seeks skilled and dedicated First Officers to join its growing A320 fleet. This role presents a significant career progression opportunity within a leading global airline, combined with the chance to build a life in the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Abu Dhabi.

An assessment event for First Officer candidates is scheduled to take place in Rome. Pilots based in the Rome area who are interested in this opportunity are encouraged to express their interest. Future assessment events in other locations will be announced at a later date.

Key Responsibilities

The First Officer is responsible for:

  • Conducting flights in compliance with the current flight plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Captain's instructions when not at the controls. Notifying the Captain of any changes to the flight plan, Air Traffic Control instructions, or geographical position upon their return to the controls.
  • Assisting the Captain with administrative duties related to the flight as requested.
  • Confirming the safe navigation of the aircraft, maintaining a continuous and independent check on both the aircraft's geographical position and ensuring safe terrain and weather clearance.
  • Maintaining a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a representative of Etihad Airways at all times.

Requirements

To be considered for the First Officer - A320 fleet position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft (aircraft with a FMS coupled to APFDS) or high-performance military jets.
  • A minimum of 500 hours on one of the A320 Family aircraft types.
  • Flown any Airbus Fly-by-Wire (FBW) aircraft within the last 12 months.
  • Hold a valid A320 Type Rating valid for a minimum of 2 months at the time of joining.
  • Hold an ICAO current and unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Frozen ATPL is not accepted unless held by a UAE citizen.
  • Currently current on the A320.
  • Hold an unrestricted, current Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Maximum age limit is 50 years old.
  • Demonstrate English Language Fluency (written and verbal) Level 4 or better.
  • For hours accumulated on flights with in-flight relief, 75% of the total hours shall be counted towards the required minimums.
