Eastern Airlines Director of Inflight
Eastern Airlines is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to serve as Director of Inflight. This full-time, professional position is based in Kansas City, MO, US. The annual salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $140,000.00.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Inflight is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of Eastern Airlines' Flight Attendants and Inflight Management team. This leadership position is critical for ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational reliability while meeting and exceeding customer expectations. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic aviation environment, collaborating closely with all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the safe conduct of all in-flight personnel in accordance with company and FAA requirements.
- Serving as the primary FAA contact for all inflight service and cabin service matters.
- Coordinating formal correspondence between the FAA, DOD, and Company leadership.
- Ensuring the competence and currency of all Flight Attendants, Supervisors, and Instructors.
- Owning responsibility for the content, currency, and quality of inflight operations manuals.
- Exercising authority to establish and modify policies, procedures, and instructions for all in-flight manuals.
- Participating actively in Flight Attendant recruitment efforts with People Services.
- Overseeing the development of all training programs and curriculum for in-flight personnel.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable CFRs and company policies.
- Maintaining meticulous certification and records for all training programs (initial, recurrent, transition).
- Participating in safety and compliance duties as outlined in the Safety and Regulatory Compliance Manual.
- Monitoring and assisting in maintaining optimal staffing levels based on operational needs.
- Resolving scheduling disputes collaboratively with Crew Scheduling and Flight Attendants.
- Conducting internal audits of training materials for regulatory compliance.
- Ensuring the quality of Cabin Crewmember Checks and Qualifications processes.
- Managing the Inflight Team with a balanced approach of empathy and accountability.
- Coordinating with People Services on personnel actions including counseling, hiring, separations, and injury/illness cases.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidates for the Director of Inflight position will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required.
- The role necessitates a minimum of three years of customer service experience, with aviation experience strongly preferred.
- At least three years of prior Flight Attendant experience.
- A minimum of three years of management or supervisory experience.
- A strong knowledge of FAA regulations and CFRs is essential.
- The ability to manage teams effectively, balancing accountability and empathy, is critical.
- Applicants must hold a current U.S. Passport valid for at least six months and possess valid travel documents permitting international travel.
- The position requires maintaining a polished, professional, and conservative appearance.
- The ability to multitask effectively and perform in high-pressure environments is necessary.
- Candidates must successfully pass a DOT drug test, comprehensive background checks, and CHRC, and be eligible to work in the United States.
