Lead Captain - Global 7500

Overview

Clay Lacy Aviation is actively recruiting a highly qualified Lead Captain to operate a Part 91 Global 7500 aircraft. This full-time, non-contract position is based at KBFI/KHIO and offers an annual compensation range of $405,000 to $420,000, along with a fully paid medical and healthcare premium. A preference is extended to candidates who are typed for the Global 7500 and reside within a two-hour commute of the operating base, or are willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

In addition to performing pilot duties as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC), the Lead Captain is instrumental in fostering effective communication channels between the aircraft owner/client and Clay Lacy Aviation stakeholders, including the Account Manager (ACM), Director of Maintenance (DOM), Director of Training, Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP), and Trip Support Specialists. Key responsibilities include ensuring crew adherence to all applicable regulations, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Lead Captain will also assist in coordinating training events, reviewing expense reports and invoices, and supporting the management of crew schedules. A crucial aspect of this role is to cultivate positive working relationships and perpetuate Clay Lacy Aviation's company culture and ideals within the flight department.

Operational Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with flight and maintenance schedules and all aircraft operational directives.
  • Maintain crew compliance with flight and duty time limitations.
  • Oversee pre-flight and post-flight duties and inspections according to the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
  • Coordinate with the DOM and ACM to ensure aircraft cleanliness.
  • Manage aircraft inventory as per owner requirements.
  • Monitor crew member performance and report to the ACP for annual performance reviews.
  • Complete and approve crew expense reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Review monthly billing summaries and report discrepancies.
  • Coordinate crew days off and vacation requests, relaying to the ACP for scheduling.
  • Serve as a liaison with the ACP and Director of Training.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of crew currency and upcoming training requirements.
  • Perform annual aircraft record audits.
  • Ensure compliance with fleet requirements, including SOPs and necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain familiarity with aircraft equipment and operational authorizations.

Maintenance Related Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events.
  • Assist in resolving and communicating mechanical Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
  • Review monthly work order invoices.
  • Communicate all maintenance-related items and squawks to the Maintenance Controller or DOM to ensure effective scheduling.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely communication of aircraft owner or charter client requests to the Charter Department and Chief Pilot's office.
  • Assist in gathering operational data for special projects or reporting.
  • Facilitate positive working relationships within the Flight Department.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and Clay Lacy Aviation.
  • Promote and uphold Clay Lacy Aviation's company culture.
  • Provide constructive feedback for process and procedure enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the ACM on the management of the aircraft owner's overall experience.
  • Update the Scheduling Specialist on aircraft schedule changes.
  • Participate in regular flight department meetings to manage activities, maintenance events, budgets, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the ACP/Chief Pilots in the interview and selection process for flight department personnel.
  • Communicate with the ACM for input and approval on operational, personnel, and administrative matters.
  • Recommend additional training opportunities for flight department members.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Lead Captains must possess the minimum experience necessary to safely operate the assigned aircraft in compliance with company Operational Specifications, General Operations Manual (GOM), and Flight Operations Manual (FOM), while meeting account management requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Compliance with applicable FAA Part 91 and/or FAA Part 135 requirements for the assigned aircraft type.
  • Current flight status.
  • ATP Certificate.
  • First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Valid and unexpired Driver's License.
  • Valid and unexpired Passport.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
