Role Overview
Cathay Pacific is seeking an Inflight Operations Safety and Standards Specialist to join the Inflight Service Delivery Department. This position is responsible for providing essential support in managing cabin safety and upholding the Safety Management System (SMS), cabin safety standards, and Occupational Health & Safety within the airline's operations. The Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring Cathay Pacific Airways' safety standards comply with Hong Kong and International regulatory bodies through dedicated research, development, and implementation of safety, security, and Occupational Health & Safety initiatives.
The role supports the Inflight Service Delivery Department in meeting its legislative obligations under the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) SMS and the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. Furthermore, the Specialist actively contributes to the SMS by addressing and mitigating safety risks specifically associated with cabin operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhances safety performance by thoroughly reviewing all reports related to cabin safety, identifying key issues and trends, and ensuring effective follow-up actions are taken.
- Collaborates in detailed investigations of reports to uncover valuable opportunities for improvement and ensures these are addressed appropriately.
- Manages cabin safety projects and initiates cabin safety-related engagement activities designed to promote awareness among stakeholders.
- Leads safety promotion efforts to foster and strengthen a robust safety culture within the department.
- Oversees the quality of all safety communication materials produced and disseminated.
- Reviews and updates safety-related manuals and critical operational documents.
- Plays a key role in the preparation for Safety Action Group meetings, providing valuable support and insightful contributions.
- Participates in the Cabin Crew Management flying program to actively promote safety through direct involvement and experience.
Requirements
- Possesses a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Holds a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a sound understanding of safety standards and operational procedures, ideally gained within aviation, safety, training, and/or an Occupational Health & Safety related role.
- Exhibits excellent analytical skills, complemented by knowledge in data analytics, auditing, and compliance practices.
- Demonstrates excellent command of both written and spoken English.
- A good command of written and spoken Chinese (including Putonghua) is highly regarded.
- Is a self-motivated, detail-minded, and well-organized individual with a strong awareness of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Functions effectively as a team player with the proven ability to communicate efficiently and build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office and Power BI applications.
- Previous experience as cabin crew is considered an advantage.
