Key Responsibilities
The Chief Pilot's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Providing visionary leadership and supervision to all flight crew members, encompassing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Developing, maintaining, and rigorously enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations.
- Ensuring all flight missions are executed in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies, and industry-leading safety standards.
- Regularly conducting flight duties, which include both domestic and international operations, demonstrating active involvement in operational excellence.
- Coordinating intricate pilot scheduling, meticulously managing duty time limitations, and ensuring optimal flight readiness.
- Evaluating and mentoring pilots to foster continuous professional growth and maintain exemplary regulatory compliance.
- Assisting in the astute management of aviation department expenditures and proactively identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
- Supporting comprehensive maintenance oversight, including meticulous inspections and audits, in close collaboration with maintenance personnel and third-party vendors.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive operational records, ensuring timely documentation of training, flight hours, and critical certifications.
- Collaborating strategically with senior leadership to define departmental goals and spearhead safety initiatives.
- Cultivating and promoting a strong culture of teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional customer service within the flight department.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for the Chief Pilot position should possess the following essential qualifications:
- A minimum of 10,000 total flight hours, including:
- 5,000 hours in turbine aircraft
- 5,000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC)
- A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate and a valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate.
- Type-rated in Challenger 604 aircraft is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience in both domestic and international flight operations.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in corporate aviation.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership and mentorship capabilities.
- Profound understanding and practical application of FAA regulations, Safety Management Systems (SMS) programs, and aviation industry best practices.
- A professional, discreet, and service-oriented demeanor, adaptable to diverse operational environments.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in dynamic situations and under pressure.
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted passport for international travel.
