Instructor Pilot

About CAE

CAE is dedicated to aviation excellence and is seeking an Instructor Pilot to cultivate confidence, capability, and mastery in aspiring and current pilots. This role involves training, mentoring, and evaluating pilots through simulator sessions, ground school, pre-flight briefings, and tailored instruction, preparing them for critical flight moments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver standardized training in classroom and simulator environments for Captain Upgrades, Initial/Recurrent Training, PIC/SIC Evaluations, Differences Training, and Remedial Training.
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in accordance with CAE standards.
  • Enforce company standards and promote safe operating practices.
  • Provide clear and effective instruction utilizing strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Accurately and impartially evaluate pilot performance.
  • Conduct simulator and ground training at CAE facilities.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
  • Monitor customer progress to ensure alignment with CAE training standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and training center management.
  • Conduct Proficiency Checks and Certification Checks under FAR 135/142, if authorized as a TCE.
  • Participate in training meetings and conferences addressing customer requirements.
  • Maintain all required qualifications, certifications, and instructional proficiency.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Perform related duties and assignments as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-issued equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3,000 total flight hours.
  • Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and at least one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating.
  • A passion for teaching with strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and internet-based programs.
  • Ability to participate in CAE’s DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States.
  • Excellent fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong listening and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous teaching or training experience.
  • Experience flying business aircraft.
  • Existing instructor qualification or type rating.
  • Experience operating ERJ 135/140/145 aircraft.
  • ERJ-145 type rating.

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
  • Occasionally move into various positions, including confined spaces.
  • Remain stationary for prolonged periods (standing or sitting).
  • Occasionally move about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally adjust or move objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally perform repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions.
