Overview

Auburn University is seeking qualified Certificated Multi-Engine Flight Instructors to join the Temporary Employment Services (TES) team. Successful candidates will provide comprehensive flight, simulator, and oral instruction to students enrolled in the Professional Flight program, ensuring adherence to all FAA and university standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert flight, aviation training device (simulator), and oral instruction in accordance with AU Professional Flight and FAA procedures.
  • Maintain accurate student training records, logbooks, and computer-based documentation.
  • Promote a robust safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety policies and reporting any concerns to the Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructors.
  • Manage student scheduling to ensure satisfactory progress through courses, including arranging make-up lessons and monitoring progression against Training Course Outlines.
  • Prepare students for Stage Checks, End-of-Course Tests, and FAA Practical Tests.
  • Monitor the airworthiness and maintenance status of training aircraft, reporting all discrepancies to fleet maintenance personnel.
  • Participate in required administrative, standardization, and currency training meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 150 hours of dual instruction given (single or multi-engine).
  • Certifications:
    • Level II (MEI): Requires Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine/Instrument-Airplane/Multi-Engine Airplane certification.
    • Level III (Flight Standards): Requires Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine/Instrument-Airplane certification.
    • All levels require a current Third Class FAA Medical Certification.
  • Skills: Demonstrated piloting proficiency and instructional ability; capability to perform under pressure in congested airspace; and strong aeronautical decision-making skills.
