Position Summary: Flight Instructor II

The Flight Instructor II is responsible for providing industry-leading, learner-centric flight training to discerning Cirrus customers. This critical role involves delivering instruction in the iconic Cirrus SR model aircraft at premier Cirrus Services Centers across the USA, adhering to a structured syllabus utilizing proprietary course materials for streamlined student progression.

Additionally, the Flight Instructor serves as Pilot in Command (PIC) of Cirrus aircraft for 14 CFR Part 91 corporate flight operations, including demonstration flights, repositioning, and post-maintenance testing, as required. The instructor is tasked with conducting flight reviews and proficiency checks and reports directly to the Flight Operations Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Flight Instructor II performs a variety of functions central to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and instruction:

  • Adheres meticulously to all established industry and Cirrus safety procedures and operational policies.
  • Provides professional and exemplary customer service throughout the training engagement.
  • Exercises sound and timely decision-making authority regarding the safety of flight operations.
  • Conducts structured training events precisely following program guidance and established requirements.
  • Delivers superior flight and ground instruction in accordance with Cirrus policy and procedure documents.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of all training event activities and results within pilot training logs.
  • Assesses pilot performance across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains for each instructional event.
  • Identifies opportunities to customize training events to effectively meet individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Acts as Pilot in Command for corporate flight missions, including ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights.
  • Performs standard pre-flight and post-flight inspections, ensuring the aircraft is clean, fueled, oiled, and equipped with current chart subscriptions and de-ice fluids.
  • Maintains continuous professional learning of the latest developments and technology within the Cirrus Aircraft line of products.
  • Represents the company as a model aviator and Flight Instructor, possessing a deep mastery of aircraft subject matter.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this critical role, the individual must possess the following certifications and experience:

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single Engine and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Hold FAA Pilot Certificate: Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Current Second-class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of professional pilot experience is required.
  • 350 dual given hours or 250 dual given hours achieved in Cirrus aircraft.

Preferred Experience:

Candidates with experience in complex operational environments are highly preferred, including IFR operations in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC experience, international flight operations, and night flying.
