Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / (PA/NP) - Surgical Oncology Instructor

Location: Onsite, Aurora, CO

Department: Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery, University of Colorado Anschutz

Position Summary: The University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine invites applications for a 1.0 FTE faculty position at the rank of Instructor. The successful candidate will serve as the primary coordinator for the Pancreas & Biliary Oncology Multidisciplinary Program. This role involves coordinating patient flow, triaging, and conducting patient visits under the supervision of attending surgeons and physicians.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Coordinate the Pancreas & Biliary Oncology Multidisciplinary Program, including weekly clinics and conferences.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other multidisciplinary clinics as required.
  • Review medical records, order/interpret diagnostic tests, and manage patient scheduling based on disease assessment.
  • Perform age-appropriate history and physical examinations for complex patients.
  • Prescribe medications and manage pre-procedure protocols.
  • Document clinical encounters efficiently in the EPIC system.
  • Facilitate perioperative management, OR scheduling, and oncology treatment coordination.
  • Educate patients and families while providing hospital resources.

Research & Departmental Duties

  • Participate in research initiatives and track patient outcomes/data.
  • Assist in database management and accuracy.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and attend departmental meetings.
  • Contribute to program development, including community outreach and institutional website content.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners (NP) or CNS

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program.
  • Current or pending Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure by a national professional organization.
  • Current or pending Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado.
  • Admission to or pending admission to the Advanced Practice Registry of the Colorado Board of Nursing.
  • Prescriptive authority (can be pending at time of hire).
  • 1 year of experience as a licensed NP preferred.

Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistants (PA)

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure to practice in the state of Colorado.
  • Possession of prescriptive authority.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed PA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • For NP/CNS: Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP).
  • Experience in Surgical Oncology or Pancreas & Biliary Cancer.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring Range: $99,008 – $133,869
