Job Summary

The Instructor at Safran Helicopter Engines Academy is responsible for conducting comprehensive training for customers and internal employees. The role covers the installation, operation, troubleshooting, safety, maintenance, and repair of Safran Helicopter engines, ensuring all training adheres to strict corporate, EASA, CASA, and Transport Canada regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver corporate-approved training programs, including curriculum outlines, software presentations, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Design shop exercises that align with corporate quality and safety guidelines.
  • Present advanced instruction on gas turbine theory, oil and fuel systems, control and monitoring, electrical systems, and engine installation.
  • Conduct training both on-site and at off-site customer locations.
  • Supervise students in practical maintenance procedures, providing guidance on industry best practices and ensuring field maintenance competency.
  • Develop and maintain specialized training aids.
  • Administer written and practical examinations in accordance with aviation regulatory standards.
  • Maintain technical expertise by staying current with engine modifications, publication revisions, and field reporting.
  • Participate in instructor seminars to integrate new information into the academy’s training programs.
  • Undergo scheduled regulatory audits to ensure continued compliance.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 35%).

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in an aeronautical, technical, scientific (Gas Turbine), or Armed Forces environment.
  • Certification: FAA Powerplant Certificate required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Federal Aviation Regulations and EASA Part 147.
  • Software: Expert-level usage of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS).
  • Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Special Requirements: This is an ITAR-controlled position requiring U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Levels 1 and 2 Maintenance certification for Safran Helicopter engines.
  • Minimum of 6 months of prior teaching or instructional experience.
