Compensation: USD $33.00/Hr. – USD $38.00/Hr. (Commensurate with certification level)

Auburn University is seeking qualified Certified Flight Instructors (TES) to provide expert flight and simulator instruction to students enrolled in the Professional Flight program. This temporary role supports the university’s aviation training objectives by ensuring students meet FAA standards and course requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide flight, aviation training device (simulator), and oral instruction in accordance with Auburn University and FAA procedures.
  • Maintain accurate student training records, logbooks, and electronic documentation.
  • Ensure all students meet course objectives, standards, and regulatory minimums.
  • Prepare students for Stage Checks, End-of-Course Tests, and FAA Practical Tests.
  • Promote a robust safety culture by adhering to prescribed policies and reporting potential hazards to the Chief and Assistant Chief Flight Instructors.
  • Monitor the airworthiness status of training aircraft and coordinate with maintenance personnel as required.
  • Manage student scheduling to ensure satisfactory progress and completion of required flight hours.
  • Attend all required administrative, standardization, and currency training meetings.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a current Third Class FAA Medical Certification. Certification requirements by level are as follows:

  • Level I (CFII): Requires Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine/Instrument-Airplane certification.
  • Level II (MEI): Requires Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine/Instrument-Airplane/Multi-Engine Airplane certification.
  • Level III (Flight Standards): Requires Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine/Instrument-Airplane certification.

Note: Temporary FAA certificates are acceptable. Applicants must upload a copy of all relevant certifications during the application process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated piloting proficiency and instructional ability, verified during initial standardization training.
  • Ability to exercise sound aeronautical decision-making.
  • Competency in working under pressure within busy environments and congested airspace.
