Job Summary
The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering flight training in flight simulators and ground school environments, adhering to regulatory agency standards, CAE approved curricula, and customer requirements. This role involves acting as a subject matter expert (SME) to guide clients through their training. Within 1.5+ years of service, and based on business needs, designated instructors are expected to qualify as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) and customer contract check airman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides simulator/flight or classroom instruction on assigned aircraft types for the issuance of licenses, type ratings, internal training, certificates, and pilot qualifications.
- Conducts thorough and professional pre and post-flight simulator briefings in accordance with CAE standards.
- Completes required administrative duties, including training records, recommending remedial training, and tracking instructional qualifications and activity.
- Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in the creation of curricula and courseware as required.
- A 2-year training commitment is required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Hold or meet qualifications to receive an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- Possess a minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Jet Type Rating.
- Prior Part 142 TCE experience is recommended.
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with Instrument (II) and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) experience is recommended.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching with strong communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other internet-based programs.
- Must participate in CAE's DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Experience flying business aircraft is considered a plus.
- Possess professional character and the ability to foster a welcoming and successful learning environment.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across multiple levels.
- Commitment to customer service, providing continuous exceptional customer service.
- Capability to tailor training sessions to the needs of a diverse customer base.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability and willingness to maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with CAE policy and FAA requirements.
Security Responsibilities
Incumbents must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Responsibilities include proper marking and handling of all information and materials, preventing unauthorized divulgence of information, and accessing/storing government and proprietary information electronically on company-provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
- Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders to enter simulators or aircraft cockpits.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.
- Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, or other sounds to identify issues in the functioning of simulators and their environment.
- Work occurs in a regular office environment, with communication via personal computer, telephone, and fax.
- Requires physical stamina and stature to maintain composure in an airplane seat while wearing a parachute during aerobatic flight profiles.
- Work may involve areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by high-pressure hydraulics.
- May be exposed to extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
