Instructor Pilot - AH-64D/E
CAE USA Inc. seeks a highly skilled and experienced Instructor Pilot to provide advanced flight instruction for student pilots in the AH-64D/E Apache helicopter. This position is based at Fort Rucker, Alabama and offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the training of both U.S. Army and multinational students.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive flight instruction in accordance with the Army Aircrew Training Manual, encompassing advanced flight tasks, navigation, terrain flight techniques, tactics, techniques and procedures, and instrument training.
- Conduct instruction in a variety of environments including contact, instruments, weapons gunnery, and night systems under day, night, and night vision goggle modes of flight.
- Provide performance evaluations of students in classroom, in-flight, and simulator training.
- Conduct pre-flight and in-flight briefings, and post-flight After Action Reviews.
- Administer end-of-stage check rides.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate; Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Completion of the U.S. Army AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot and Methods of Instruction course.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an aviator with recent AH-64D/E flight experience within the last 12 months. (Currency or refresher training may be provided as needed.)
- Minimum of 1000 hours of flight time in the AH-64D/E.
- Minimum of 250 hours as an Instructor Pilot in the AH-64D/E.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, including word processing, database input, accessing electronic publications and the World Wide Web, as well as briefing and debriefing software.
- Ability to support periodic travel.
- Familiarity with the operation of a military flight training base.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts, including early mornings and late nights.
Requirements:
- Current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) second-class Medical Certificate or, if a member of the National Guard or Reserves, an Army Class 2 Flight Duty Medical Exam (FDME).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex aviation word and technical documents/diagrams.
- Ability to calculate figures, amounts, percentages, and draw and interpret graphs.
- Problem-solving skills, including data collection, fact establishment, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Strong ability to interpret student requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
- Eligibility for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment:
- Regular office environment with communication via personal computer, telephone, and fax.
- Potential exposure to risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
- Exposure to extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises consistent with an aviation facility.
Physical Demands:
- Domestic travel as required.
- Ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under training devices.
- Ability to detect odors or hear noises to detect problems or flaws in the surrounding environment.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
