Job Overview: Helicopter Pilot (Instructor)

Amentum is seeking a qualified Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) to join the team in Fort Rucker, Alabama. The selected candidate will provide professional instruction in the UH-72. Previous military aviation experience or specific UH-72 qualification is not required.

Role and Responsibilities

Instructors at Amentum are responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots, preparing them for future roles as military aviators. The organization prioritizes safety within its rotary-wing flight training culture, maintaining an extensive safety record across a vast operational area within the National Airspace System.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

  • Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or graduation from a DOD rotary-wing instructor pilot course.
  • Total Flight Time: 1,500 hours (as Pilot-in-Command or Second-in-Command per FAR 61.51, or as PIC or PI per AR 95-1).
  • 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
  • Documented experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
  • 75 hours of night flying experience.
  • 500 hours of instructor time.
  • Current FAA Second-class Medical Certificate required prior to the commencement of training.
  • Basic Warfighter Skills: Must be certified Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 200 hours of NVG time.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of authorization.

Employment Terms and Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $55.85. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, experience, skills, and applicable regulations. All applicants are subject to government approval and the terms of a 12-month Employee Agreement.
