Position Overview: KC-135 Instructor Pilot

CAE is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as a KC-135 Instructor Pilot. This role involves providing comprehensive aircraft systems and operational procedures instruction across classroom, simulator, and practical environments. The successful candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), contributing to curriculum development, training policy improvements, and administrative excellence to ensure the highest standards of mission readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert instruction on KC-135 pilot procedures, Visual Threat Recognition Avoidance Training (VTRAT), and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
  • Serve as a Lesson SME to review, develop, and update training curriculum and materials.
  • Conduct ground training, including student diagnosis and remediation.
  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling, record keeping, student counseling, quality assurance, and safety audits.
  • Maintain proficiency in the operation of KC-135 Aircrew Training Devices, including emergency procedures, take-offs, and landings.
  • Participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights and project development as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of eight years of total flying experience, including five years of military experience. Must possess at least two years of KC-135 Pilot flight instructor and training management experience, with recent experience as a KC-135 Instructor or Evaluator Pilot.
  • Certification: Completion of a formal USAF Instructor training course.
  • Skills: Strong facilitation, data analysis, and advanced communication skills. Ability to define problems, interpret complex data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Compliance: Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a DoD Personal Security Clearance. Must comply with all data protection, security, and information handling policies.

Physical and Work Environment Demands

  • Must be physically capable of accessing simulators and aircraft cockpits, including climbing stairs/ladders, stooping, and bending.
  • Ability to stand and conduct instruction for up to six hours daily.
  • Must be able to work overtime, any shift, and any day of the week as required.
  • Capacity for domestic and international travel.
  • Work environment may include exposure to electrical risks, hydraulic machinery, extreme heat, and loud noises.
