Global Vision Captain
C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC seeks a highly experienced and skilled Global Vision Captain to join its aviation team. The core focus of C&S and its family of companies is to support local families, neighbors, and communities through efficient supply chain solutions and wholesale grocery supply. The Captain role is integral to this mission, responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of assigned flights, enabling vital business operations.
This position is based in Keene, NH. It operates on a full-time, on-call schedule with flexible hours dictated by flight schedules. While most nights are spent at home, the role averages approximately four overnight trips per month. Travel is primarily domestic, with an estimated six international trips annually, contributing to approximately 300-400 annual flight hours. The successful candidate must reside locally or be willing to relocate within one hour of Keene, NH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possesses exclusive and final authority regarding the decision to proceed to any destination or undertake any flight. This authority is not subject to being overruled by any passenger or executive, nor should the Captain be disciplined for decisions related to weather, mechanical condition, or other hazards. The Captain holds the final authority on all operational decisions for the aircraft.
- Exercises primary responsibility for the initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of all flights, ensuring strict compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and the company's Flight Operations Manual. The Pilot-In-Command, Chief Pilot, or Aviation Manager reserve the right to delay or divert any flight that cannot operate safely according to FARs and the Flight Operations Manual.
- Maintains professional competence and control over the assigned crew and aircraft, adhering to Company and government regulations to ensure optimum safety, security, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
- Reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is accountable for the safe execution of assigned flights.
- Conducts thorough checks of weather, applicable NOTAMs, and determines fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements.
- Calculates and verifies aircraft weight and balance.
- Ensures all flight planning requirements are meticulously met.
- Verifies that all aircraft crew members possess valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas when necessary.
- Completes a comprehensive aircraft pre-flight inspection before each departure.
- Provides passenger briefings in accordance with specified requirements.
- Operates the aircraft in strict adherence to operator procedures and aircraft limitations.
- Ensures full compliance with customs, immigration, and sabotage laws.
- Completes all post-flight duties, including prompt notification to the company of any deviation from the planned itinerary or overnight location.
- Accurately records flight times and aircraft discrepancies.
- Actively shares knowledge and provides coaching to the Second in Command (SIC).
The role primarily involves working in standard office temperatures (65F to 75F) but also includes time spent in the hangar environment, which can range from perishable warehouse temperatures (28F to 60F).
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) ratings are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proven ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal Aviation regulations and safety procedures.
- Strong customer service skills coupled with a steadfast commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to perform duties that involve sitting for extended periods.
- Availability to support an on-call schedule and undertake overnight travel.
- A minimum of 10-15 years of aviation experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation obtained through a military or certified program.
- A minimum total flight time of 7,500 hours is required, along with at least 1,000 hours in Jet aircraft and a minimum of one Jet type rating.
