Qualified Flying Instructor - Basic Flying Training Squadron
Ascent Flight Training, a rapidly growing aerospace and training company operating across the UK, seeks a qualified and experienced Instructor to join its Basic Flying Training (BFT) Squadron at RAF Valley. The company delivers world-class flying training services to the UK Government and industry partners. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a small, specialized team, providing ground school and synthetic training to military and Ascent aircrew on the Texan T1 aircraft. He or she will conduct ground-based instruction for military BFT Student Qualified Flying Instructors (SQFIs) and ab-initio pilots, adhering to BFT syllabuses encompassing conversion, instrument flying, navigation, weapon profiles, tactical maneuvers, and advanced evolutions. The Instructor will also assist in currency training for existing QFIs. Responsibilities include conducting Computer Based Training/Computer Aided Instruction/Simulator training, delivering ground school lessons, and facilitating simulated airborne events in accordance with BFT syllabuses. Further tasks related to Texan T1 training may be assigned. The Instructor will also assist in curriculum design, serving as a Texan T1 Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development and maintenance of BFT courseware, and may have the opportunity to participate in innovation work for the future of UK MFTS.
Candidates must possess previous experience as a Qualified Flying Instructor pilot in a military environment. Qualifications and/or recommendations from the RAF Central Flying School are essential. Previous experience in a 'Basic Flying Training' role on a turbo-prop airframe is highly advantageous, and experience with synthetic training devices is beneficial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for instructing and fostering student success, possess excellent communication skills, and be adept at working with students of varying abilities. A customer-focused approach and commitment to providing first-class service are crucial.
