Position Summary
The Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. This pivotal role involves fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and prepares them for rewarding careers in the aviation industry. In addition to teaching, the instructor manages essential administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance curriculum alignment with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides engaging and effective instruction in aircraft maintenance principles, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages student participation and enhances learning.
- Develops and refines curricula that aligns with industry standards, collaborating closely with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to prepare course materials and schedule classes effectively.
- Manages administrative responsibilities, including establishing and maintaining accurate academic and attendance records for each student, and submitting attendance, grades, evaluations, and other required documentation in compliance with institutional procedures.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and readily available for student use.
- Offers individualized support to students, proactively addressing current or potential issues by notifying the Supervisor and implementing proven retention techniques to support student success.
- Participates in ongoing professional development through completing assigned performance-based teacher education modules, engaging in classroom observations and instructor evaluations, and responding to student feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Attends and/or leads in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory gatherings to ensure continuous professional growth and collaborative peer engagement.
- Assists in managing the inventory of departmental equipment and supplies, submitting replenishment requests to the Supervisor or appropriate personnel as needed.
- Monitors student attendance closely, alerting the Supervisor to any absences, particularly at the first, third, and fifth occurrences, to address potential retention issues promptly.
- Completes other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the aircraft maintenance training program.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance; special considerations will be given for more diverse experience.
- Strong command of both theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance, coupled with contemporary knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven, and compliance-oriented educational setting.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with the capability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
- Demonstrated high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service in an educational context.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exhibiting exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Willingness to work outside of regular shifts as necessary or requested by the Supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- CampusNexus experience.
Work Schedule
Flexible scheduling options are available to accommodate different lifestyles:
- Option 1: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
- Option 2: Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position ranges up to $33 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors. AIM is committed to providing a rewarding compensation package that supports both professional growth and personal well-being.
