A Qualified Flying Instructor position is available on the Basic Flying Training (BFT) Squadron at RAF Valley. The successful candidate will join a niche team delivering world-class flying training to military and Ascent aircrew on the Texan TMk1.
Responsibilities include instructing aspects of the BFT syllabus to high standards, conducting tasks related to Texan TMk1 training, delivering phase briefs, technical lessons, practical demonstrations, and synthetic events. The instructor will also assist in curriculum design as a Subject Matter Expert, contributing to the development and maintenance of BFT courseware, and participating in innovation work for the future of UK MFTS.
The ideal candidate will possess prior experience as a Qualified Flying Instructor within a military environment, holding qualifications and/or recommendations from the RAF Central Flying School. Previous experience in a basic flying training role on a turbo-prop airframe is highly advantageous. The instructor must excel in instructing students, fostering their success, and working with diverse skill levels. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential.
Additional requirements include experience in multi-faceted flying disciplines, collaborating within teams, demonstrating strong presentation skills, developing and updating courseware, and engaging with the RAF safety culture.
