Chief Pilot
Amerijet International Airlines, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their team as a Chief Pilot in Miami, FL.
Summary
The Chief Pilot holds a critical leadership role within Flight Operations, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Flight Operations. This role is responsible for the overall supervision of flight crew members, ensuring the highest standards of proficiency, safety, and standardization across all flight operations and personnel management functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure the compliance of all flight crew members with FAA regulations, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Supervise and manage flight crew member scheduling and assignments, maintaining a high level of operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Flight Operations to develop, implement, and maintain new and existing flight operations policies, practices, and procedures.
- Assist in the selection process of flight instructors and check airmen, ensuring the highest quality of training and evaluation within the flight department.
- Assume operational control of company aircraft in the temporary absence of the Senior Director of Flight Operations, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Actively contribute to pilot staffing strategies, including the assessment of future pilot needs, interviewing potential candidates, and making recommendations for hiring and upgrade decisions.
- Participate in weekly Crew Manpower Planning meetings, ensuring adequate staffing levels and resource allocation.
- Maintain and distribute the Pilot Seniority list on a monthly basis, ensuring transparency and accuracy within the pilot group.
- Conduct and participate in pilot disciplinary hearings, upholding company standards and ensuring a fair and consistent approach to performance management.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Collective Bargaining Agreement, working collaboratively with Human Resources to administer various types of pilot leave programs.
- Actively participate as a member of the Event Review Committee for the Aviation Safety Action Plan, contributing to the continuous improvement of flight safety practices.
- Participate in emergency response drills and serve as a designated delegate for Emergency Response activities, demonstrating preparedness and leadership in critical situations.
- Monitor and maintain accurate and up-to-date flight crew records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
- Identify and address pilot training needs by promptly informing the Director of Flight Training and providing detailed assessments of areas requiring review.
- Take decisive action to remove crew members from line status if they fail to meet company standards, ensuring the highest levels of safety and professionalism.
- Serve as acting Director of Flight Training during vacancies, demonstrating versatility and a deep understanding of flight operations and training processes.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Flight Operations to develop and disseminate essential information to crew members, including route updates, airport information, NOTAMs, navigational aids, company policies, and regulatory changes.
- Maintain proficiency as Pilot-in-Command (waiver possible upon approval by the Senior Director of Flight Operations), ensuring the ability to lead and manage flight operations effectively.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Flight Operations, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to supporting the overall success of the flight department.
Education and/or Certification
- Must meet or exceed all FAA 14 CFR §119.65, 119.67(b) qualifications or possess alternative qualifications eligible for a deviation approval.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of FAA Part 121 regulations.
- B-767 type rating required or the ability to obtain the rating within 12 months of hire.
- ATP certification with a minimum of 3000 total flight hours.
- Minimum of 1500 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Chief Pilot, management, or extensive Check Airman experience highly desired.
- Prior experience as a Part 121 Chief Pilot or Director of Operations is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a workgroup governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Language Skills
- Meet or exceed the minimum language proficiency requirements outlined by Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical documents, write reports, and deliver clear and concise correspondence.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid ATP certificate is required.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and handle special projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, and a collaborative team player.
- Prior experience with AIMS tracking system is desirable.
Physical Demands
- Regularly requires communication skills such as talking and hearing.
- Primarily a sedentary role; however, requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and using hands for various tasks.
Work Environment
- Professional office environment, routinely requiring the use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, fax machines, and filing cabinets.
Travel
- Medium level of travel required.
