About the Role:

This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing Part 135 helicopter operations conducted under the Seminole Tribe of Florida certificate. The Chief Pilot manages day-to-day flight activities, pilot scheduling, training, and administrative tasks. The role requires a seasoned professional capable of ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, maintaining company standards, and transporting passengers safely and efficiently. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily helicopter operations.
  • Ensures strict adherence to FAA 14 CFR Part 135 regulations, organizational standards, safety protocols, and security procedures.
  • Develops and maintains company manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manages pilot records and complies with required FAA reporting systems.
  • Implements and administers pilot scheduling, coordinates aircraft maintenance schedules, and oversees pilot training and standardization programs.
  • Assists in the selection and hiring of new flight crews and contributes to the development of the helicopter training budget.
  • Plans flight missions in accordance with company policies.
  • Conducts thorough pre-flight inspections of helicopter airframe, powerplant, rotor systems, flight controls, systems, and instruments.
  • Accurately documents flight details, including flight time, destination, and maintenance discrepancies.
  • Communicates maintenance discrepancies to maintenance and dispatch personnel promptly and collaborates with technicians for resolution.
  • Ensures the maintenance and cleanliness of the aircraft fleet.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a FAA Airline Transport Pilot-Helicopter (ATP-H) License.
  • Must possess a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR § 119.71 (d).
  • Minimum of 4,000 hours total time in helicopters.
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time in helicopters.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours in single-engine turbine helicopters.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours PIC in multi-engine helicopters.
  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience operating under FAA Parts 135, 133, and 137.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate helicopters in adverse weather conditions, day or night, on or off airport.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a leadership role.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience operating under FAA Part 135.
  • Previous FAA Part 135 Company Instructor and Check Airman qualifications.
  • Experience with AW139 and AW109 aircraft (AW139 Type Rating preferred).
  • Experience operating with Night Vision Goggles (NVG).

Work Environment:

The primary work environment is the helicopter cockpit. Exposure to varying temperatures is expected, as not all helicopters are air-conditioned. Field work may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions such as heat, dust, rain, mud, and noise. Potential job hazards include exposure to engine noise and the inherent risks associated with flight operations.
