Amentum, a leading provider of mission-critical services to the Department of Defense, is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Instructor Pilots. This is a unique opportunity to train the next generation of Army helicopter pilots at the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence in Fort Rucker, Alabama.
About the Role:
Instructor Pilots play a vital role in shaping the future of Army aviation by providing comprehensive training to aspiring helicopter pilots. Working at the largest rotary wing flight school in the world, you will guide students through a rigorous program that encompasses:
- Aviation theory and simulator instruction
- Actual flight training on the UH-72 helicopter
- Development of leadership skills essential for combat situations
The program boasts an unprecedented safety record and utilizes a diverse fleet, including Apaches, Blackhawks, and Chinooks. Your expertise will be instrumental in preparing these pilots for the challenges of real-world missions.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction in all aspects of helicopter flight training.
- Mentor and guide students through a demanding program, ensuring their success in both theoretical and practical applications.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism throughout the training process.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the training curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate.
- Possession of an ICAO equivalent or FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates. Alternatively, candidates may be graduates of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
- Minimum of 1500 hours of total flight time, with creditable hours accrued as pilot-in-command or second in command.
- A minimum of 100 hours of combined experience in hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
- Proven experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
- At least 75 hours of night flying experience and 500 hours of instructor time.
- Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
- Weight must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
- Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- U.S. Government background security clearance is required (sponsored by Amentum for qualified candidates).
Please note: Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required.
