Overview
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of reliable remotely piloted aircraft, tactical reconnaissance radars, and advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. The company is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Instructor Pilot and Flight Examiner/Evaluator to serve as a subject matter expert for its family of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), including aircraft hardware, software, and ground control station operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain responsibility for the safe operation of UAVs during all phases of ground and flight operations.

Provide expert instruction to UAV student pilots and instructor pilots-in-training, covering both academic platform instruction and in-flight operations.

Serve as a subject matter expert in UAV operational tactics, techniques, and procedures.

Develop and execute instructor mission planning, briefings, mission execution, and debriefings.

Support the development of training syllabus courseware, including research, word processing, and presentation development.

Ensure compliance with governing regulations, including service guidance, company procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Observe all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies while conducting business.

Maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures.
Job Qualifications

Education/Experience: Typically requires a four-year technical degree and at least six years of progressively complex aviation experience; equivalent professional aviation experience may be substituted.

Experience must include work as an instructor pilot in a formal training program.

Launch and Recovery Requirements: 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) with UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification; 1,500 UAV hours; Multiple aircraft UAV Pilot Evaluator qualification.

MCE Only Instructor Requirements: 3,000 hours flight experience (manned or UAV), 1,000 hours as PIC, and current UAV instructor/evaluator or multiple UAV aircraft qualification (MQ-9 pilot time applies).

Technical Proficiency: Strong aviation background with a complete understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Certification: Must possess a current FAA Commercial Certificate with an instrument rating.

Skills: Excellent organization, planning, and coordination skills. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, military, and civilian customers.

Operational Knowledge: Strong command of computer applications relevant to the position and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications: Current and qualified MQ-9 experience; MQ-9 Launch and Recovery Instructor Pilot experience; previous qualifications as an instructor in an air-to-ground role.
