Job Summary
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking dedicated Flight Attendants to ensure guest safety and deliver an exceptional Aloha experience on board their aircraft. This role is based in Honolulu (HNL), Los Angeles (LAX), or Seattle (SEA) and involves providing attentive customer service, handling emergency situations, and performing in-flight services.
About the Role
As a Flight Attendant with Hawaiian Airlines, your primary responsibility is the safety and well-being of guests during flights. This includes performing safety procedures, assisting guests in emergencies, and delivering unparalleled customer service with Hawaiian hospitality. This is a union-represented position that requires adaptability to varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Duties
- Conduct preflight briefings and cabin preparations.
- Greet and assist guests, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment.
- Demonstrate safety equipment and ensure guest compliance with regulations.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, administering first aid and reporting incidents.
- Deliver in-flight food and beverage service, and manage onboard payments.
- Prepare the cabin for landing and assist with guest deplaning.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures and airline regulations.
- Collaborate with crew members to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 21.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to speak and read business-level French proficiently.
- Two (2) years of direct customer experience in hospitality or the airline industry, OR four (4) years of customer contact and issue resolution experience in retail, education, healthcare, or professional services.
- Vertical reach of 82” without shoes.
- Ability to lift 25lbs from floor to above shoulder height.
- Comfortable participating in emergency training in a swimming pool.
- Ability to secure oneself in a jump seat with a harness and move expeditiously through the cabin aisle.
- Must be able to serve alcohol.
- Must possess a valid passport and secure applicable visas for international travel.
- Must possess the legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines, with travel documents remaining valid throughout training and employment.
- Must pass a tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Willingness to relocate to Honolulu (HNL), Los Angeles (LAX), or Seattle (SEA) based on operational needs.
- Ability to present a professional image, adhering to uniform and appearance guidelines regarding body art, piercings, and hair.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain authorization for unescorted access to aircraft and SIDA areas.
Qualifications
- Successfully complete an FAA-approved, eight (8) week intensive unpaid training program in Honolulu.
- Satisfactorily complete annual FAA-approved re-certification provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Possess the ability to learn and maintain current knowledge and competency of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian and FAA regulations.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively diffuse and resolve difficult customer situations.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, providing prompt and pleasant responses to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Physical readiness to work in an environment subject to varying climatic conditions, gravitational loads, and cabin pressurization; ability to stand for extended periods (four to seventeen hours) and perform necessary physical tasks including stooping, twisting, pulling, and pushing cabin equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with other colleagues to deliver a never-ending aloha experience by providing prompt and pleasant responses to guest inquiries, requests and complaints while aboard the flight.
- Ability to perform essential functions during emergency situations, which may include assisting incapacitated individuals, evacuating the aircraft in smoke, operating emergency equipment, and lifting emergency cabin windows (up to 60 pounds), or descending an emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
