Role Overview
The Montana Air National Guard, 120 OSS, is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Position Description Number D0253P02). This role involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, for tactical and non-tactical missions. The incumbent ensures safe mission accomplishment while utilizing precision instrument flight techniques and adhering to all flight parameters and regulatory requirements.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

Flight Operations:
Executes standard maneuvers and normal flight procedures in all weather conditions. Performs comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, fuel requirements, route study, and flight plan filing. Ensures weight distribution, maintenance verification, and crew briefings are conducted prior to departure.

Safety and Compliance:
Adheres strictly to flight manual parameters. Maintains logs and flight reports, conducts post-flight inspections, and coordinates with maintenance personnel. Serves as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF) when assigned as the Air Commander’s representative.

Program Support:
Incumbents may be rotated into administrative support areas, including:

Training and Scheduling:
Designing comprehensive training plans and establishing unit flying schedules.

Plans:
Developing deliberate wartime and peacetime contingency plans.

Safety:
Administering flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in compliance with Air Force, ANG, and OSHA directives.

Inspector General:
Managing the Complaints Resolution, Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) programs, and the Air Force Inspection System (AFIS).
Candidate Requirements
Military and Eligibility Requirements

Must possess current Montana Air National Guard membership (or be eligible for immediate membership prior to the effective date of placement).

Must maintain USAF military pilot medical standards.

Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or capable of qualifying within 6 months of hire.

Must wear the military uniform.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance for access to classified information.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications and Certification

Military Grade:
O4/Maj - O5/Lt Col.

Education:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certifications:
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from an accredited civilian aviation program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.

Experience:

Must demonstrate a competent understanding of basic occupational principles.

Minimum of two years of specialized experience in aviation programs (civilian, military active duty/reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard).

Demonstrated experience in piloting/instructing in specific main-frame military aircraft.

Detailed experience in mission planning, navigation, meteorology, quality control, and safety program management is required.
