Position Overview
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position for an Airplane Pilot (Position Description Number D0253P02) with the OK 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard. The primary purpose of this role is to pilot unit-equipped (UE) aircraft while performing administrative tasks to support the Air Operations program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter jets, for tactical and non-tactical missions.

Perform precision instrument flight techniques and adhere to standard flight parameters in all weather conditions.

Conduct comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, and flight plan filing.

Execute post-flight activities, including log maintenance, reporting, and equipment inspection.

Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), overseeing mission safety, airspace utilization, and emergency operations.

Rotate through Air Operations functional areas, including Training and Scheduling, Strategic Planning, Safety, and Inspector General support.
Mandatory Requirements and Qualifications
Eligibility

Must be or be eligible to become a member of the National Guard.

Requires maintenance of a compatible military assignment and the ability to wear the military uniform.

Must be a US citizen; males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Requires graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Possess a valid state driver’s license and qualify to operate government motor vehicles.
Experience and Education

Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.

An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is mandatory; a graduate degree is considered optimum.

Minimum of two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs.

Proficiency in piloting and instructing others in mainframe military aircraft, including fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Expertise in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics.

Demonstrated ability in quality control management, safety program administration, and adherence to FAA and military flight directives.
