Job Summary:
The Aviation Pilot is responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of medical crews and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. This role requires strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), and a comprehensive understanding of Air Methods' policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
To excel in this position, candidates must possess the following:
- Education and Experience: An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent, along with 2-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Operational and Safety Requirements: As a member of the Flight Crew, the pilot must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years old.
- Skills: The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the general public. A commitment to maintaining a professional and friendly work environment is essential.
- Flight Experience: The pilot must have flown in the designated aircraft category within the past 24 months.
Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Program Requirements:
- Total Flight Hours: 2,500 with a minimum of 2,000 hours in the designated category
- PIC (Pilot in Command) Hours in Category: 1,000 hours
- Cross-Country Flight Time: 500 hours, including at least 50 hours at night
- Turboprop Experience: 300 hours
- Night Flight Time: 100 hours
- Flight in Actual Instrument Conditions: 100 hours in the designated category
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Instrument Rating: Required for the category and class of aircraft (an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating in the designated category fulfills this requirement).
- Fixed Wing Multiengine Rating: Mandatory for twin-engine aircraft.
- Commercial Single-Engine Land Rating: Required for single-engine aircraft.
- First or Second Class FAA Medical Certificate: Essential.
Compensation:
The salary for this position is based on flight experience and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience.
