UAV Pilot and CAD Technician

Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, construction, and project management since 1898, seeks a highly skilled and motivated UAV Pilot and CAD Technician to contribute to the Driftwood LNG project in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This crucial role supports the efficient execution of survey and drone operations, ensuring accurate data acquisition and timely project delivery. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of survey principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a demonstrated ability to operate and maintain unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and administration of the Survey Work Request and UAV Mission Request programs.
- Collaborate with the survey team, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
- Provide technical support to office surveyors, assisting with data processing and deliverable preparation.
- Verify primary, secondary, and tertiary control points.
- Maintain accurate records of underground services and as-built installations.
- Prepare survey CAD drawings, including Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and volume computations.
- Generate comprehensive civil project completion data and "as-built" documentation.
- Plan, execute, and oversee the project's UAV/drone program, maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Pilot UAVs, supervise other pilots, and ensure the quality of photogrammetric data.
- Review and approve survey data from field crews, ensuring accurate and timely submission of documentation.
- Ensure that survey office calculation activities support the construction schedule.
- Develop and maintain survey data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience, or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit, and AutoCAD modeling software. Experience with BIM 360 Collaboration is a plus.
- Experience with drawing office data registers and repositories.
- Experience validating as-built information against client requirements.
- Proven experience in the production of architectural and engineering designs and drawings.
- Experience in developing designs in project models using appropriate families, systems, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections, including extensive walking in various conditions, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and working in confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. The ability to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
