Fixed Wing Pilot
Air Methods, the leader in air medical transport, seeks a dedicated and skilled Fixed Wing Pilot to join CareFlight of the Rockies (CFOR) in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Fixed Wing Pilot is responsible for ensuring the safe and airworthy operation of the aircraft, transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within the assigned operational area. He or she will adhere to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM) guidelines, as well as Air Methods policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Operates Air Methods PC12 (IFR) aircraft safely and legally.
- Completes pre-flight inspections, verifying the aircraft's airworthiness via the Daily Flight Log.
- Maintains final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
- Maintains thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft utilized at the operational area and ensures the medical flight team is equally familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
- Completes all required documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Conducts detailed flight planning with minimal notice and to exacting standards.
- Actively participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Maintains regular scheduled attendance (7/7 schedule - 12-hour shifts).
- Complies with all applicable laws and Air Methods' employment practices and policies.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must meet CFOR minimums.
- Pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public, fostering a friendly and professional working environment.
- As a member of the Flight Crew, any person employed in this position shall maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds and shall be less than seventy (70) years old.
CareFlight of the Rockies Minimums:
- 2500 hours total flight time (3000 hours preferred)
- 1000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
- 1000 hours turbine time
- 200 hours night flight time
- 100 hours actual instrument time (500 hours minimum instrument and 1000 hours total instrument preferred)
Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Program Requirements:
- 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 flight hours in category.
- 1000 hours PIC in category.
- 500 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 hours of which were at night.
- 500 hours of turbine time.
- 100 hours night flight time.
- 100 hours of flight in actual instrument conditions in category.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft) (ATP rating in category meets this requirement).
- Fixed-wing multi-engine rating is required for twin-engine aircraft.
- Commercial single-engine land is required for single-engine aircraft.
- First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting Pay: USD $82,900.00/Yr.
- Maximum Pay: USD $93,251.00/Yr.
- Based upon flight and EMS experience.
- $30,000 Stipend
- Off Duty Housing
- $15,000 Sign-On Bonus
