The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, delivers world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
About the Role
This is a Reserve Pilot position based at Patrick Space Force Base, offering an exciting opportunity to join the WASS program as an Augmentation Pilot. Initially, the selected candidate will be stationed at Patrick SFB in a temporary duty (TDY) capacity until a permanent downrange 80-40 rotational position becomes available.
This role necessitates flexibility and a strong commitment to supporting global operations. While based at Patrick SFB, the selected individual must be prepared to travel domestically and internationally for up to 180 days per year. Travel will be conducted in 45-60 day intervals until a permanent position is secured.
Key Responsibilities
The WASS Pilot will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of flight operations. Responsibilities include:
- Flight Planning and Execution: Meticulously plan and execute flight assignments, gathering and analyzing information related to flight purpose, weather conditions, operating procedures, and special instructions.
- Aircraft Preparation and Safety: Ensure the aircraft is fully prepared for flight by conducting or supervising pre-flight inspections, verifying airworthiness, and addressing discrepancies. Oversee proper loading, securement, and weight and balance calculations for cargo and passengers.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous flight logs, load manifests, and discrepancy records. Ensure accurate recording of aircraft flight time and timely filing of flight plans and duty time records.
- Passenger and Ramp Safety: Prioritize passenger safety throughout boarding, flight, and disembarkation. Maintain ramp security and conduct thorough passenger briefings, delegating tasks as necessary while retaining overall responsibility.
- Teamwork and Leadership: Effectively delegate tasks to team members, providing clear direction and guidance while maintaining accountability for overall mission success.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Licenses and Certifications:
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Rotorcraft Helicopter)
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
- Current US DoD Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Experience:
- 1,500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- 300 hours of Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in English
- Ability to pass a physical screening
- Passport with at least 18 months remaining
