Role Description: Fixed Wing Pilot in Command

This full-time, Home of Record (HOR) based, globally deployable Fixed Wing (FW) Pilot in Command position involves serving as the Pilot in Command (PIC) for DHC-8 aircraft, and as Second in Command (SIC) when required. Responsibilities include planning flight assignments, gathering essential information regarding flight purpose, weather conditions, operating procedures, and special instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain aircraft currency and proficiency in accordance with government and DoS INLA guidance.
  • Routinely deploy OCONUS and occasionally CONUS to support worldwide operations, anticipating 180 days or more of Temporary Duty (TDY) annually, potentially in remote or austere environments.
  • Prepare and supervise flight planning, considering altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight and balance, cruise performance, airport facilities, and navigation aids, ensuring a complete flight kit is onboard.
  • Verify aircraft airworthiness, inspections, and maintenance status, confirming discrepancies are corrected or deferred according to the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), as applicable.
  • Supervise or conduct preflight inspections, aircraft preparation, loading, distribution, and security of passengers, baggage, and cargo, ensuring survival and emergency equipment is present when required.
  • Ensure weight and balance limits are met, and complete and submit required documentation, including the Aircraft Flight Maintenance Log, Load Manifest, and Discrepancy Record.
  • Maintain final responsibility for logging flight time, filing/closing flight plans, and ensuring the accuracy of flight and duty time records.
  • Oversee the reporting and recording of maintenance discrepancies, including when maintenance occurs away from the principal operating base.
  • Maintain safety and ramp security during passenger boarding and deplaning.
  • Uphold professional standards, including adequate rest and proper appearance.
  • Delegate functions as appropriate while retaining overall responsibility.
  • Perform other aviation-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
  • FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate Airplane, Multi-Engine Land (MEL).
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
  • DHC-8 type rating.
  • Completion of DHC-8 Readiness Level (RL) training within 90 days of integration.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for 180 days or more annually; schedule may vary monthly.
  • Minimum 300 hours of multi-engine Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • For OCONUS operations, host nation equivalent certifications in lieu of FAA Certifications.
  • Previous military FW flight training qualification or civilian equivalent.
  • Spanish Language proficiency: Level L-2, R-2 required for LATAM Programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI).
  • Documented Functional Check Pilot (FCP) and Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) training with Maintenance Evaluator designation.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Prior military pilot experience and/or pilot support experience on the DoS INLA program.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
