Role Summary
AAR is seeking a professional Fixed Wing Pilot in Command (PIC) for the WASS program. This deployable role serves primarily as the DHC-8 Pilot in Command and, when required, as Second in Command. The successful candidate will manage flight assignments, ensure aircraft airworthiness, and oversee mission-critical operations in both domestic and international environments, including remote or austere locations. This position requires an annual deployment expectation of 180 days or more.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain aircraft currency and proficiency per government and DoS INLA guidance.

Execute flight planning by analyzing altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight and balance, and navigation aids.

Verify aircraft airworthiness, maintenance status, and ensure all discrepancies are addressed via the MEL.

Conduct preflight inspections, supervise passenger/cargo loading, and ensure safety and security protocols during operations.

Maintain accurate flight logs, maintenance records, and required mission documentation.

Ensure the highest professional standards, including proper rest and appearance, while delegating functions as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

1,500 total fixed-wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.

Minimum 300 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command (PIC) time.

FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Airplane, MEL).

DHC-8 type rating (must complete DHC-8 Readiness Level RL training within 90 days of integration).

FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.

Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.

Previous military fixed-wing flight training or civilian equivalent.

Spanish language proficiency (Level L-2, R-2) required for LATAM programs.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Ability to travel/deploy internationally and domestically for 180+ days annually.
Preferred Qualifications

FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.

FAA CFI, CFII, or MEI certifications.

Documented Functional Check Pilot (FCP) or Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) training with Maintenance Evaluator designation.

Prior military pilot experience or pilot support on the DoS INLA program.

Bachelor's degree or higher.

Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
