Summary and Objective

The Second in Command (SIC) reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight. The SIC assists the PIC in preparing and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures. This is a Part-Time position.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure safe and efficient flight operations for all trip assignments while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Adhere to the duties and responsibilities stated in all company procedures manuals.
  • Maintain a current first-class medical certificate and notify the company of any medical condition that may impair the ability to perform flight duties.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and the ability to coordinate and lead the crew.
  • Assist with passenger greeting, seating, and luggage storage.
  • Conduct passenger briefings and respond to passenger requests and needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel Required

Home base is TMB. Must live within 1 hour of this base.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is provided at a rate of $150 per scheduled workday and $75 per training day.

Professional Development

This position includes participation in an FAA-approved Second-in-Command (SIC) Professional Development Program, allowing pilots to log SIC flight time in accordance with OpSpec A062.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States.
  • Strong organizational skills and advanced multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal/written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer skills necessary to operate word processing, email, and web-based/mobile device applications.
  • Passionate attention to detail and ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • FAA First Class Medical certificate.
  • Commercial Single Engine Land (SEL) and Single Engine Sea (SES) with Instrument Rating.
  • IFR Proficiency and Currency.
  • 250 total flight hours, including: 100 hours cross-country and 25 hours night.
  • High knowledge of General Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures, and other pertinent information.
  • Ability to complete training program and demonstrate proficiency with job requirements.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check prior to employment, including verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and suitability for the position.
  • This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive role and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA regulations.
