Position Summary

The Caravan Seaplane Captain (PIC) serves a critical function in supporting company operations by ensuring the safe and efficient transport of maintenance parts, supplies, and technical personnel to various worksites. This role encompasses the full execution of assigned flight duties while upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company procedures. The Captain prioritizes precision and adherence to protocol in every mission.

Essential Functions

The Captain is responsible for performing the following essential duties:

  • Ensuring safe and efficient flight operations for all trip assignments while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Maintaining a high degree of professionalism, coordination, and leadership for delivery missions.
  • Greeting passengers and assisting with seating, luggage, and freight storage.
  • Thoroughly reviewing and managing all customer service aspects, including parts pickup and drop-off, refueling, customs procedures, and vendor communications during deliveries.
  • Conducting passenger briefings as required.
  • Adhering to all duties and responsibilities outlined in company procedures manuals.
  • Maintaining a current first-class medical certificate as required by policy and promptly notifying the company of any medical condition that may impair the ability to perform flight duties.
  • Meeting duty time limitations and rest requirements, ensuring qualification, currency, proper attire, and possession of all required certificates, licenses, and permits for each flight assignment.
  • Assuming primary responsibility for the safety of passengers and cargo.
  • Complying strictly with all Federal Aviation Regulations, the Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, Company Policies, and Procedures.
  • Updating flight and duty records, determining eligibility for subsequent flight assignments, and reporting any aircraft maintenance discrepancies in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Actively participating in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting, and mitigating hazards and quality issues; providing timely input to management; and applying systems processes to address quality and safety concerns.
  • Performing other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Work Environment

The role involves exposure to typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments, including loud noises from aircraft machinery and jet engines. Exposure to extreme temperatures is expected due to travel requirements. The workspace within the aircraft interior can be tight.

Physical Demands

The position requires the ability to:

  • See and hear clearly.
  • Read, comprehend, and speak English clearly.
  • Climb, twist, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
  • Move in tight quarters.
  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Work in all weather conditions as needed.
  • Regularly push/pull up to 70 pounds.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Dress Code and Uniform

The Captain is expected to maintain a well-groomed appearance and adhere to the department dress code.

Travel Requirements

This is an on-call position with a requirement for 5 hard days off per month.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $110,000
  • Per diem: $66 per day (domestic), $85 per day (international) when overnight away from base.

  • 1-year Training Agreement.
  • Additional perks include Known Crew Member (KCM) Access, uniform allowance, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), and FAA medical reimbursement.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
  • Strong organizational skills and advanced multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal/written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Computer skills necessary to operate word processing, email, and web-based and/or mobile device applications.
  • Must possess a passionate attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Must possess a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must hold a Commercial Single Engine Land pilot certificate with Instrument Rating.
  • Must maintain IFR proficiency and currency.
  • Minimum of 1,200 total flight hours is required, including:
    • 500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
    • 500 hours cross-country
    • 100 hours night
    • 75 hours instrument (with a minimum of 50 hours in actual flight)
    • 25 hours Seaplane
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the General Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures, and other pertinent information relating to this duty.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the company training program and demonstrate proficiency with job requirements.

This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive role under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FAA guidelines.
